Issue-based conservative music? Puke, puke, and double pee-yuke.
It's true, courtesy of the Right Brothers. Are they right? You decide. Go to their web site and enjoy such bull-shit songs as:
"The Illegals" - "You Can't Racial Profile" - "I Want my Country Back" - "Dear Mr. Regan" - "Trickle Down" - "It's My Money"and the pro-life "I Want to Live," with lyrics that follow:
You found out about me and you're feeling scared
You're thinking I'm a big mistake
The Man upstairs says be prepared
He says I might not see the light of day
Well, I didin't ask to be here
But now that I am
Momma I wanna live
Momma I wanna breathe
Just give me the chance to be all I can be...
And I want you to know
That I can feel your heart beat
I love that these idiots write about a clump of cells having the ability to think, reason, or talk, let alone the sensory abilility necessary for "feeling a heartbeat." The "Right" Brothers obviously have not studied child development in the least, but hey, murder is murder right? "Right?" Wrong!! Again, idiots, and again, puke.
Oh, but there is something funny. These guys have a song called "Freedom isn't Free." Besides being oh-so-catchy, it bears the same title as a satyrical song made up to poke fun at conservative " boot in their ass" songs in the movie Team America World Police. So, in an attempt to further their god-bless-america-kick-ass-rule-the-world ideology, they ended up mocking themselves in the process.
Freedom isn't free (Team America World Police): "Freedom isn't free/It costs folks like you and me and if we/don't all chip in, we'll never pay that bill/Freedom isn't free/No, there's ahefty f@#king fee/And if you don't throw in your buck o' five, who will?"

Political music annoys me. Green Day, System of a Down, Incubus, and a whole crapton of other musicians have recently released nearly all-political albums. Granted, these groups are all on the left side of the spectrum, and to me, songs that are political usually end up sounding cheesy and forced. Obvoisly musicians are going to have political views, but it chaps my heinie when they have to put their politics in music.
I'm not saying I disagree with those lyrics about abortion, but I won't get into that because you know what my views are.
I accidentally deleted part of that comment. It should read "Granted, these groups are all on the left side of the spectrum, as opposed to the one that you posted, but to me, songs that are political end up sounding cheesy and forced..."
(No matter what political views are expressed)
Oh, and thanks for the special link section. Shouldn't it be "Because they're Liz's ex-boyfriends" though? =) Just kidding.
I agree, totally cheesy, but like you, i tend more to dislike the ones that I don't agree with. And your welcome...I could call it Liz's ex's links, but I think I'll not do that...just in case anyone is offended. Notice I kept your non political blog in the other section. And Paul's is down there because all he seems to post lately are pics of naked chicks and their crotches.
Yes, I noticed. =)
I am trying to post more there, but I have been feeling pretty guilty lately about blogging at work.
Aw, come on, it's better than cribbage. Do it, come on Chris, no one is watching...
Wow. That's so disturbing. Yet.. oddly interesting. I wrote about it in my own blog. Those guys sound like parodies of themselves. If I were writing a movie making fun of conservative musicians, it would be about them.
Yes Chris. Blog at work. Do it! Blog! You know you want to. You can just hear the blog whipsering your name. It says "Come on Chris. No one will know. It'll be fun and it feels sooo good. It's fun to be bad."
Go Sara, Awesome post!
The front page of their website says that their music is "the perfect tool for converting liberals to the right."
Doesn't seem like the case. Can't blame 'em for trying!
I'm found out that people who believe such things can be diagnosed with a psychological condition. After careful and deep study, I found the disease:
"dogmacosis"
It's a state of mind where your religious beliefs are so strongly ingrained that you form a Christian band. Scary stuff.
I don't mind if people write songs with politically charged lyrics (Think Bob Dylan, John Lennon, Woodie Guthrie, Buffalo Springfield, etc.) but for god's sake those are the stupidest lyrics I've ever seen! Tell The Right Brothers to take a poetry or songwriting class and learn how to f*cking write.
Granted, the Right Brothers aren't the only right wing musicians out there; lest we forget The Ramones, Ted Nugent, Alice Cooper (That's right. THE Alice Cooper)to name a few.
This is an actual testimony from one of their fans. I laughed until I cried. unedited, I swear:
"Your video is a dynamic message and brought tears to my eyes as the words of the song penetrated." - Deanna Still, Heartbeat Pregnancy Center
Mmmmmmmm... there ain't nothin' like good issue based right-wing penetration!
Judging by that testimonial, I can't tell if Deanna is an employee of the Heartbeat Pregnancy Center or just a repeat customer.
Ba-zing!
You're correct Evan, those are right wingers. However, The Nuge and Alice Cooper didn't sing political songs when they were popular, and maybe it's because politics weren't invented 17,945 years ago.
And The Ramones were rightwing? Say what?
I didn't know that either.
I think my main point is that these guys are an inch away from being thir own parody, like Jo said. It wouldn't take much more ridiculousness to make them into a mocumentary along the lines of Spinal Tap.
Are you saying that Uncle Ted and Ms. Cooper aren't popular? Well I've got two tickets to see Nugent in concert in August that say you're wrong, bitch.
Never talk shit about the Nuge.
What leads me to believe the Ramones are right wing? Oh, perhaps their "God Bless George W. Bush" statement at their induction to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame
Are you sure they weren't being sarcastic?
Pretty sure. The Economist wrote about Johnnie Ramone being, "a staunch conservative. He idolised Ronald Reagan, and used the band's induction into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame in 2002 to heap praise on George Bush."
Washington Times described him as, "a fiercely Republican-voting, NRA-supporting musician."
Ok, I believe you. One question though. How does one go about "voting fiercly?"
I think it involves stomping loudly away from the polls (or your mail box) saying "Take that!" or some other exclaimation while looking very, very angry.
I think you fiercely punch the chad out of the ballot or fiercely fill in the circle of your preferred candidate.
Look: I don't know who you are, jerkoff, but leave Sara alone. You're not impressing anyone.
Dipshit.
No shit.
